Typical Use Cases for the PetTec Trainer

Find out how the PetTec Trainer can support you and your dog.

Goal: Reduce excessive barking.

  • As soon as your dog barks without reason, activate the vibration or spray.
  • Wait until he stops barking and immediately reward him with a treat or praise.
  • Make sure to time it precisely so that he understands the connection between the signal and the barking.
  • Repeat this exercise regularly to sustainably change the behavior.

Goal: Minimize leash pulling.

  • If your dog starts to pull on the leash, use a short vibration or a light spray to get its attention.
  • When it stops pulling and walks beside you on a loose leash, reward it immediately.
  • This exercise promotes calm and focused leash walking, especially when there are distractions.

Goal: Train a reliable recall.

  • Let your dog run free and use the multi-trainer to recall him without giving a verbal command.
  • Use the vibration or spray burst to get his attention. Once he comes back, reward him generously.
  • This trains him to respond to the signal alone, even in distracting situations.

We are often asked that

No pain: The vibration or spray burst serves only as a signal and causes no pain.

Positive reinforcement possible: In combination with rewards, your dog learns faster and stress-free.

Individual adjustment: The intensity of the vibration can be adjusted to your dog's needs and sensitivity.

Multiple Feedback Options: The Multi Trainer offers more options than the Click Trainer, which only uses an acoustic signal, with sound, vibration, and spray.

Gentle Correction: The Multi Trainer's feedback is gentle and non-threatening, while the Clicker offers no means of behavior correction.

Versatile Use: The Multi Trainer can be used for both correction and positive reinforcement, while the Click Trainer only provides reward signals.

More Effective in Difficult Situations: The Multi Trainer is better suited for distracted or difficult-to-train dogs who may not respond to the Clicker.

Greater Range: With a range of 600 meters, the Multi Trainer offers significantly greater distance coverage than the Click Trainer. The signal is delivered directly to the dog's neck, ensuring it always perceives it reliably – thus putting an end to loud shouting or yelling.

Independent of Ambient Noise: While the Clicker only produces its sound in the owner's hand, the Multi Trainer works with sound, vibration, or spray directly on the dog, ensuring it responds reliably even in noisy environments.

Yes, it's important to mention that the Multi Trainer is not a miracle cure but serves as a supportive tool. Patience and consistent training are crucial for achieving long-term success. The trainer helps improve communication between you and your dog, making your life together more harmonious and understanding.

How do I use training collars?

Explained step-by-step

1

Training Basics:

  • Use the training collar only as a supportive tool, not as the primary method.
  • Before putting the collar on, first just hold it in front of your dog. Trigger the signal so he gets used to it and isn't startled later. This way, he can calmly perceive the collar and the signal before it's used.
  • Combine it with positive reinforcement, such as praise or treats, when your dog displays the desired behavior.

2

When training with tone and vibration:

  • Use the tone as the first signal to get your dog's attention.
  • If the tone alone is not sufficient, use the vibration as the next signal.
  • Reward your dog immediately when he responds to the signal and shows the desired behavior.

3

When training with tone and vibration:

  • Use the tone as the first signal. If the tone alone is not sufficient, use the spray as a second signal.
  • The spray should be used sparingly and only as a last resort, as it is somewhat more unpleasant.
  • Reward your dog immediately when he responds to the signal and shows the desired behavior.

Common mistakes & tips

  • Don't overdo it: Don't use the signals too often, so your dog doesn't become desensitized.
  • Consistency: Be consistent in your commands and signals.
  • Patience: Give your dog time to get used to the signals and show the desired behavior.
  • Positive reinforcement: Always remember to praise and reward your dog when he responds correctly.

How do training collars work?

If you only think of painful electric shocks when it comes to training collars, you couldn't be more wrong. These have been banned in Germany for quite some time anyway. PetTec training collars communicate with your dog in a completely pain-free, gentle way, namely via a spray signal that triggers an unpleasant scent for the animal, or via vibration, which can be precisely adjusted in seven levels. If necessary, your dog can also be given an impulse via sound to stop barking or other unwanted behavior.

Both multi-trainers, anti-bark trainers, and remote trainers are available from PetTec with vibration and with spray. A collar with vibration is particularly suitable for dogs that enjoy being in the water. However, the neck fur should not be too dense, as the signal can then no longer be transmitted effectively. In that case, a PetTec training collar with spray could be a good solution, as it is also suitable for allergy sufferers. The spray needs to be refilled and is available with a neutral or citronella scent.

What are the differences between anti-bark trainers and remote trainers?

The difference between an anti-bark trainer and a remote trainer is easy to explain. The PetTec anti-bark trainer reacts fully automatically to your dog's barking and immediately emits a spray or vibration signal. The remote trainer, on the other hand, only triggers at the push of a button. This allows many more effects to be combined with one signal. For example, you can also use it to discourage your dog from unauthorized digging, jumping up, or running away.

With the multi-trainer, you get both variants combined in one device.
