When will my dog respond to his name?

  1. Choose a name for your puppy and use it consistently. Avoid using your puppy's name for other purposes.
  2. Start training in a quiet environment without distractions. Call your puppy by their name and reward them when they look up or come to you.
  3. When your puppy responds to their name, reward them with praise or a treat. Repeat this several times.
  4. If your puppy doesn't respond to their name, try to get their attention by clapping or whistling. Once they look at you, call them by their name and reward them for it.
  5. Gradually increase the distance and distractions during training to enhance your puppy's ability to respond to their name.
  6. It is advisable to make training playful and use positive reinforcement to reward good progress.

To avoid overwhelming your puppy, it's recommended to keep training sessions short and repeat them regularly. It's important to be patient and consistent, using the right method and rewards. This way, your puppy will quickly learn to respond to their name.
